Venum Challenger Mouthguard – Red/Black
The Venum Challenger Mouthguard offers comfort and protection suitable for combat sports and contact training. It is designed to cushion teeth, gums, and the jaw during vigorous drill work, sparring sessions, and competition. The EVA material helps absorb and distribute impact to reduce injury risk, while the overall construction emphasizes a balance between protection and a secure bite. This model is versatile for jiu jitsu athletes who also train in football, lacrosse, or boxing.
Venum Challenger Mouthguard – Black/Black
This variant features Nextfit Gel Frame for a more customizable fit and enhanced comfort, along with an advanced design intended to optimize breathing. A high-density rubber frame provides improved shock management, contributing to protection during intense grappling and striking exchanges. The design supports better airflow and a snug fit, which is helpful for jiu jitsu athletes who rely on quick transitions and steady breathing during rolls.
Bulletproof: World’s Thinnest Most Breathable Mouthguard
Bulletproof Mouthguards emphasize an ultra-thin, 3D-molded design that aims to contour to teeth with a snug, brace-friendly fit. Marketed as one of the most breathable options, this model seeks to maximize comfort and speaking ability while maintaining protection. Its slim profile is appealing for jiu jitsu practitioners who prioritize airflow and a less intrusive mouthpiece during close combat and guard work.
SISU Aero Medium Mouthguard – Charcoal Black
The SISU Aero design offers a ultra-slim profile and a remoldable material, allowing up to 20 remolds for a precise fit. Its high-strength thermoplastic provides 30% more protection and eight times the tensile strength of typical mouthguard materials, while maintaining a low profile that makes talking, breathing, and drinking easier—beneficial for athletes who need clear communication on the mat. It’s suitable for lacrosse, football, hockey, and other team sports as well as jiu jitsu.
Shock Doctor Mouth Guard – Custom Fit
Shock Doctor offers a boil-and-bite custom-fit option with a multi-layer construction and a front bumper for enhanced protection. It is designed to be easy to fit and reform as needed, making it adaptable for different users and braces configurations. This model is compatible with a wide range of contact sports, including boxing, MMA, and MMA training, providing a reliable standard for bite protection on the mat and in the gym.
Champs MMA Breathable Mouth Guard
Champs MMA focuses on airflow and a secure fit via a boil-and-bite design. Centralized air holes maximize breathing during rounds, keeping athletes calm and energized. The product is designed for boxing, MMA, jiu jitsu, wrestling, and muay thai, with a snug fit that aims to stay in place during grappling and quick transitions. It also suits other high-contact sports, offering dependable protection and comfort across disciplines.
SAFEJAWZ Dual Layer Mouthguard
SAFEJAWZ Dual Layer Mouthguards use a double-layer construction to deliver high-impact protection while maintaining a slim profile. They are designed to minimize gag reflex and intra-oral interference, which is beneficial for competitive grapplers who require steadiness during transitions and guard work. The design supports all contact sports and is noted for strong impact absorption in independent tests.
Buying Guide: Key Considerations For Jiu Jitsu Mouth Guards
- Fit Type: Boil-and-bite, pre-formed, or custom molded. Boil-and-bite is common for immediate use, while custom-molded options provide a tailored fit for comfort and protection.
- Breathability: Look for models with central air channels or slim profiles to improve airflow and speaking ability during rolls.
- Protection Level: Depending on grappling intensity, select a design with robust protection for teeth, gums, and the jaw. Dual-layer or high-density frames often offer enhanced absorption.
- Allergies And Materials: Check for latex-free materials and non-toxic, BPA-free plastics. Braces wearers may need braces-friendly options.
- Communication And Comfort: A mouth guard with a low profile helps maintain verbal communication and hydration during long sessions.
- Bracing Compatibility: If you wear braces, choose models specifically designed to accommodate orthodontics without sacrificing protection.
- Durability And Maintenance: Durable EVA or thermoplastic materials with easy cleaning help ensure longevity across frequent practices.
- Size And Coverage: Mouth guards come in youth and adult sizes. Consider full-coverage variants for maximum protection in grappling.
- Versatility: If you train in multiple sports, a model that performs well across football, boxing, or lacrosse can simplify gear purchases.
