This combination targets line play where contact is frequent, and quick, precise movements are essential.
Champro Falcon Lineman Shoulder Pad, M
The M-size Champro Falcon Lineman Shoulder Pad locks in a breathable, lightweight fit with its polyester/spandex construction. Flat pad design keeps the silhouette compact to maximize mobility at the line, and the 360 yoke adds coverage without bulk. This model aims to balance protection with the agility required for quick punch-and-seal blocks.
TAG Adult ALT4-965 Football Shoulder Pads for Offensive Lineman, Defensive Lineman (2X-Large)
The 2X-Large ALT4-965 from TAG focuses on high energy absorption, durability, and flexibility for both offensive and defensive linemen. It features polycarbonate epaulets and a corrugated sub-arch with NV815 foam for improved protection. The NX210 NX-TEC padding over the shoulders and NX200 at the lower front/back areas keep protection lower-profile yet effective for line battles.
TAG Adult ALT4-965 Football Shoulder Pads for Offensive Lineman, Defensive Lineman (Large)
For players seeking a slightly larger fit, the Large ALT4-965 offers the same engineering as the 2X-Large but tailored to broader chests and shoulder widths. Durable polycarbonate epaulets and a low-profile padding system provide robust impact protection without restricting reach. The combination supports heavy line contact while maintaining mobility for quick lateral moves.
TAG Adult ALT4-965 Football Shoulder Pads for Offensive Lineman, Defensive Lineman (3X-Large)
The 3X-Large ALT4-965 is designed for players requiring maximum coverage and energy absorption. It incorporates polycarbonate epaulets, NV815 foam under the sub-arch, and NX210 NX-TEC padding across the shoulders with NX200 in the lower front and back. This setup aims to deliver consistent protection for bigger linemen facing powerful interior lines, while preserving mobility for blocking angles.
Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Size and fit: Offensive linemen vary in shoulder width and chest size. Use manufacturer guidance and measurements to choose from XL to 3X-Large, ensuring a snug but comfortable fit that doesn’t restrict arm motion.
- Protection level: Look for padding density and materials that balance impact absorption with mobility. Polycarbonate epaulets and foam underlayers often provide robust protection for inner-line contact.
- Weight and mobility: Lightweight designs reduce fatigue and improve lateral movement. Flat pad construction can help maintain a lower profile without sacrificing protection.
- Coverage and yoke: A breathable yoke adds coverage to key areas while maintaining airflow. This is important for comfort during long games and practices.
- Durability and materials: Breathable fabrics with stretch (polyester/spandex blends) offer a secure fit that moves with you. Durable padding should resist compression from repeated blocking.
- Maintenance: Check for washability and ease of cleaning. Durable outer shells and padding should withstand regular laundering without losing shape.
- Brand and support: Reputable brands like Champro and TAG provide consistent sizing guidance and customer support should sizing or fit issues arise.
- Player position considerations: Offensive linemen benefit from lower-profile pads that still protect the shoulders and chest, enabling longer sets and more explosive blocks.
